I bought this microwave to replace my old fashioned basic microwave/grill, and it is fantastic. It has microwave, grill and convection oven functions, and I use all of them. I only have a single oven in my kitchen, so this really helps when I need two ovens for a complicated meal.

The other function I really like is the 'Chaos Defrost'. This function means you select the category of your frozen item, then enter in the weight, and the microwave calculates the defrost time and does it for you. It really works - defrosting things without cooking the edges.

I noticed that the slightly bigger version (which I wanted, but it wouldn't fit on the worksurface) which has two shelves, is listed in Feb 06 Good Food magazine, as one of the five examples of microwaves out at the moment. They list the 'Chaos Defrost' as particularly helpful.

Panasonic created a gem of a oven with this type! My husband and I used to dread cleaning the typical conventional oven and the Eiffel Tower style pile up of pots and pans after a meal was a common site for our sore, tired eyes. No more now that we purchased this state of the art combination microwave oven - even my wonderful husband takes delight in cooking now and he's yet to burn a dish! I bought this because it was the largest microwave I could find. I wanted to get a really big bowl in for a recipe I use regularly and no other micro was big enough. The capacity of this one is gigantic, I can easily fit in the largest Pyrex mixing bowl I have.
I was not really interested in the combi grill part but it works really well, (baked potatoes are not soggy). I have to say I have not experimented too much as I have two Neff ovens that I use day to day so I don't think I have explored its full potential. I did try cooking crumpets with the quartz grill, rubbish results, so it does not replace the toaster.
The microwave is really powerful and I have successfully nuked the butter to a clarified swamp on several occasions, but the MS ready meals come up a treat.
The blurb says that it replaces an ordinary oven... not in my view.. it's an as "well as gadget" not an "instead of".

I've had other microwaves with turn dials (though that was years ago) and they were much easier to read than the dial on this microwave. The dots between 0 and 5 are supposed to correspond with each minute but they don't seem to. I have to use my digital timer to get a specific time because using this dial on this microwave is a guessing game.

I purchased this model because I only have the most basic needs (reheating tea and leftovers) and didn't need all the options listed in other models, but spend the extra money cause one you open the box you are stuck with it.

Really pleased when I received this and used it for the first couple of days, simple to operate and efficient, looked good. Suddenly started working on its own, can't set clock, can set power or time - very frustrating. Threw box away so think I will need to go through the bin now. Probably just unlucky but beware
